Rooney ready to lead Derby in Ligue 1 if…
Derby boss Wayne Rooney is set to lead the club in Ligue 1 next season.
the Daily Mail says Rooney remains determined to stay on as Derby County manager in League One next season “as long as Derby is a fully functioning club”.
According to sources close to the former England captain, Rooney is happy to try to lead Derby straight back to the Championship as long as the club’s takeover is complete and he has the funds to improve his squad.
Derby has been in administration for eight months, operating under a transfer embargo as US businessman Chris Kirchner continues to attempt to complete a takeover plan.
Kirchner, who received a 48-hour extension yesterday, has until midnight Monday to complete his purchase or Quantuma’s directors will look for other bidders.
Last night Kirchner tweeted: “Owning this club will be from afar.
“The club is not short of money yet and we will be done [completing the takeover] before it’s… It’s almost over.”
