Court asks Kerala BJP leader to give sample votes
A day after BJP State President K. Surendran was invited to appear before a criminal police investigative team in Kasargode, a Wayanad District Court on Friday asked him to voice his vote for a test in another case.
Surendran was invited to appear before the public studio Chitranjali Film on October 11 to record her voice with Praseetha Azhikode, a female leader of the JRP, an ally of the BJP-led NDA.
Problems erupted for Surendran when Azhikode alleged that Surendran paid 3.5 million rupees in two installments to tribal leader CK Janu, who heads the JRP party, ahead of the April 6 elections to the Kerala Assembly.
Janu was the NDA candidate for Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad District.
An audio clip purported to be a conversation between Azhikode and Surendran had surfaced in which money transfer was discussed between the two.
The police had registered a complaint against Surendran and in this case Azhikode was named a key witness.
Following the request made by the police investigation team, the Sulthan Bathery Magistrates’ Court ordered Surendran and Azhikode to come for a voice test.
This new development comes a day after Surendran was invited to appear before police from the Kasargode Criminal Branch in a electoral corruption case filed against him.
