Center installs first Atma Nirbhar Bharat wedge at Indian Embassy in Bangkok
The first Atma Nirbhar Bharat corner was successfully inaugurated at the Indian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand on the occasion of Independence Day, by Ambassador Suchitra Durai and retired Ambassador R Swaminathan.
The corner will be an exclusive space to promote IG-branded tribal arts and crafts products in addition to natural and organic products. Catalogs and brochures showcasing the richness and variety of tribal products were also shared with missions and embassies.
The 75 countries include Jamaica, Ireland, Turkey, Kenya, Mongolia, Israel, Finland, France, Canada, Singapore, Russia, United States, Indonesia, Greece and Cyprus.
TRIFED is shipping tribal commodities to the corner in each of these missions.
In addition, it will also establish Atma Nirbhar corners in 75 embassies of foreign countries established in India.
It should be mentioned that previously, as part of the celebrations of International Yoga Day, the Consulate General of India in New York also organized a one day event to introduce Yoga, Holistic Health, Ayurveda and well-being in Times Square in New York.
Over 3,000 people attended, the event held in the iconic New York location was a huge success.
A special attraction were the stands on display which showcased unique natural tribal products including immune boosters and Ayurvedic products.
The stall set up by Tribes India included a range of tribal products, including both essential natural immunity boosting products such as millets, rice, spices, honey, chyawanprash, amla, ashwagandha powders, herbal teas and coffee and accessories such as yoga mats, wind flutes, herbal soaps and aromatic bamboo candles.
The stalls were also very busy and a lot of interest was expressed in knowing the uniqueness of Indian tribes and tribal products.
A shipment worth around Rs 8.5 lakh of tribal products had been ordered by the Indian Consulate in New York for the event.
Earlier, in February 2021, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for a local voice and an empowered India, and showcasing the rich tribal heritage to an international audience, a Tribes India Conclave was organized in association with the Ministry of Exterior Business, government of India to the tribes of India Aadi Mahotsav.
The well-received event brought together more than 120 diplomats from over 30 foreign missions in India, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The dignitaries included diplomats from countries such as Taipei, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Malaysia, Bolivia, Zambia, Finland, Poland, Brazil, Egypt, Costa Rica, Cambodia, Kenya, Malta, Philippines, Laos, Tunisia, Croatia, Togo, Afghanistan, United States, Ghana, Turkey, Uzbekistan, United Kingdom, Iran and France to name a few.
There were also delegates from international organizations such as UNHCR and UNDP. India has a rich heritage of indigenous products, be it handicrafts, looms and other products.
