Our Kitty Kat
Kat's Got a New Kidney!

Kat is one of my students, and in my estimation a truly amazing human being. Most people who know her never knew she was spending hours a day, several times a week enduring dialysis after the failure of her second kidney. They only know her as a ball of joyful energy, always with a big smile and easy laughter. Particularly when she dances, she exudes positivity and enthusiasm.

Now the Universe has come through, and she has had a successful transplant surgery! She is doing great and recovering with the same positive energy she has always had. But the fact is, she does not have enough money to support herself during her recovery, and she needs our help. Her fellow students and other teacher has set up a web page with more information and a link to donate to help Kat to financially make it through this important recovery period.

Stay In The Know: local online resources in the spotlight!

Did you know that the Northwest has a couple of incredible online resources to help you stay connected and informed about bellydance events, classes, and other happenings? There are two in particular that are very up-to-date that I heartily recommend to all my students:
NWBellydance.com - This resource is both a web page and a mailing list. It is specifically geared toward class and event announcements, and is run by Tina Sargent (who also happens to run a lovely dance shop in the University District). Go there to sign up for announcements sent to your mailbox as they are posted.
BellyTalk Yahoo!Group - This was one of the first local resources I was tapped into, and I still love it today. It is a discussion group, but also an announcement group. The best of both worlds, locally, run by Basima. Sign in there to get a taste of community and the latest on classes and events, as well as reviews of both!

Check these out, guys. You won't be disappointed!
