"The most essential thing in dance discipline is devotion, the steadfast and willing devotion to the labor that makes the classwork not a gymnastic hour and a half, or at the lowest level, a daily drudgery, but a devotion that allows the classroom discipline to become moments of dancing too."
~ Merce Cunningham

Sharon "Shay" Moore is a certified instructor in both the Gypsy Caravan tribal style (mentored personally by director Paulette Rees-Denis in 2001) and American Tribal Style (ATS Certified Teacher, trained by Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance, and has completed Jamila Salimpour Level 1 intensive training. Combining her cabaret and folkloric past with her tribal fusion bellydance present, she continues to enjoy exploring the nuances of various bellydance philosophies and aesthetics to create her own unique expression. This diversified approach to her personal study has developed in her a deep respect for all interpretations of this art form, from its ancient roots through modern-day explorations.

One of Sharon's greatest joys is traveling to different cities to share this dance with others through teaching workshops and performing. She has had the honor of being hosted as a featured instructor and performer at some of the largest tribal bellydance festivals in the world, including Tribal Fest, Tribal Quest Northwest, and 3rd Coast Tribal, and is a sought after workshop teacher around the US and Canada. In 2007, her work was internationally recognized as she was nominated Instructor of the Year in the Zaghareet Magazine people's choice awards.

In addition to being a co-director of inFusion Tribal Bellydance, she is director of her student troupe, Nomaditude - Tribal Bellydance with Attitude, who perform at artist-friendly venues around the city. Sharon is highly active in the Seattle bellydance community, producing and performing at local events, organizing workshops and other educational opportunities in the Seattle area, and maintaining several informational web sites.

Sharon believes the core of tribal bellydance is not only based in our strength and technique as dancers, but also in our creative spirit and sense of connectedness with fellow dancers in our community and around the globe. It is the persistent intention to follow her own artistic instincts which keeps Sharon's work refreshingly unique and evocative of her vivacious spirit. She carries this intention into her career performing tribal bellydance and in her teaching, helping to guide other women on a path to their own artistic expression.

As a side-job, Sharon is a web and graphics designer, having created her mandalatribal.com, infusiontribal.com, and tribalbellydance.org websites, as well as many sites for her fellow dance and performance artists. (Feel free to contact her for information if you are seeking a web designer!)

As a hobby, Sharon performs burlesque in the Seattle area, under the stage name Miss Scarlet Rose. Oh, and somewhere in there, she finds time for her wonderfully loving and supportive husband, Chris, and their two dogs, Gretchen and Loki.
